On November 22, 2019, Vinh Long Provincial Museum coordinated with Ho Chi Minh City Museum, Southern Women's Museum and collector Truong Van Thuan to organize a thematic exhibition "From amateur music to Southern Cai Luong Theater " and displays a collection of portrait paintings of Cai Luong artists by painter Truong Van Y
The organizing committee introduced to the public 260 documents, images, paintings, and artifacts related to the art of Don Ca Tai Tu and Southern Cai Luong Theater. In particular, for the first time, Vinh Long province displayed the painting collection of collector Truong Van Thuan with 80 portraits of Cai Luong artists in oil paint by artist Truong Van Y.
According to Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vinh Long province Nguyen Xuan Hoanh, typical documents, images and artifacts related to the art of Don Ca Tai Tu and Cai Luong theater are selected to be displayed. Presented to help the public learn, discover the beauty and deeply feel the nation's traditional musical heritage.
Through thematic exhibition activities to honor generations of artists who have made many contributions to the field of Cai Luong theater, creating conditions for local people and tourists to enjoy and raise awareness, pride for the young generation, contributing to preserving and promoting this unique art form.
Display of documents and artifacts about Don Ca Tai Tu and Southern Cai Luong theater will take place from November 22, 2019 to March 31, 2020 and display a collection of portrait paintings of Cai Luong artists of artist Truong Van Y will take place from November 22, 2019 to December 22, 2019 at Vinh Long Provincial Museum.
