Owning nearly a hundred paintings, it can be said that collector Truong Van Thuan is currently the person who holds the most sketches of artist Nguyen Gia Tri.
From June 1st to 8th, collector Truong Van Thuan will "open the storage" for the first time, introducing the above precious works to the public.
Currently, most of the sketches of Nguyen Gia Tri - a famous artist from the Indochina College of Fine Arts - are in the collection of the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Museum and Mr. Truong Van Thuan. Thanks to the advantage of early collection, the number of artworks of Mr. Thuan is dominant.
Therefore, the number of exhibits this time (more than 50 works and dozens of documents) is even larger than the scale of the exhibition that took place four years ago by the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts and the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts collaboration.
"My wish when organizing this exhibition is for viewers to see Mr. Tri's meticulous personality and carefulness in every detail through the documents he prepared for the creative process" - Mr. Truong Van Thuan shared.
According to him, because he has held these works for a long time, he also wants to bring them to other collectors through this exhibition, creating an open playground for everyone.
Some pieces in the exhibition are no longer just sketches but have become complete works that make a deep impression on viewers, such as Kieu - painting of a beautiful woman playing the pipa.
The works at the exhibition are also valuable documents for art researchers to thoroughly learn about artist Nguyen Gia Tri's creative process, to serve future preservation and restoration work.
The exhibition takes place at 29A Ngo Thoi Nhiem (District 3, Ho Chi Minh City).
