(HTV) - In commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the death of the famous painter Nguyen Ka san, the Ho Chi Minh City Art Association. HCM collaborated with the Pingming Art Museum and the family of the deceased artist to hold an exhibition and preserved his collection for many years.
The exhibition includes more than 50 paintings and many documents by famous artist Nguyen Gia Tri, born in 1908 in Ha Dong (now part of Hanoi). He graduated from Indochina College of Fine Arts and won the Ho Chi Minh Prize for Literature and Arts.
Artist Nguyen Gia Tri, along with painters To Ngoc Van, Nguyen Tuong Lan, and Tran Van Can, formed a quartet of famous artists in the early period of Vietnamese Fine Arts. In particular, he is known as the father of modern Vietnamese lacquer paintings.
However, before the lacquer technique could be sublimated, the artist had to make many sketches.
With elegant drawings and new ideas about lacquer art, the familiar theme in the paintings of the late artist Nguyen Gia Tri is graceful, leisurely young women in poetic natural scenery.
The exhibition of his paper paintings, sketches, and sketches is on display until June 8, 2023 at Binh Minh Art Gallery, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City.
