Attending the opening ceremony in the morning of July 23rd were many prominent faces of Ho Chi Minh City's art world. As artist Hoai Huong jokingly shared in the ceremony, that he felt "like seeing the whole University of Fine Arts sitting below in the audience”. "The attraction of Nguyen Dinh Thuan's works created this reunion," said artist Hoai Huong.
At the age of 75, artist Nguyen Dinh Thuan said that although he has introduced his paintings abroad many times, he is still "very nervous when holding an exhibition in his homeland".

The exhibition takes place from July 23rd to July 30th at Binh Minh art gallery (29A Ngo Thoi Nhiem, District 3, HCMC) of art collector Truong Van Thuan and Meritorious Artist Anh Tuyet.

Painter Nguyen Dinh Thuan was born in 1948 in Hue. In his painting career, he soon succeeded by participating in many group and individual exhibitions in Vietnam, the United States, France, Singapore...
When he first entered the school to study Fine Arts, he majored in silk, then switched to studying oil painting and remained loyal to this material. In the first years of his painting career, he pursued impressionistic style, then experimented with the surrealist style for about 10 years, and after that, he was mostly loyal to the abstract painting style.
He believes that abstract painting is something that frees one's soul after realizing aesthetics and going through the levels of formation, composition, and color; "Abstract" is the superior level of "unimagined", not only abstract; The "unimagined" goes straight into the soul of the viewer; they may not see according to the concept of "look to see something".
His paintings have been preserved in private collections in many countries. He has had 5 solo exhibitions in the US but this is his first solo exhibition in Vietnam.
With the display of 28 medium and small sized oil paintings at Binh Minh art gallery this time; These are selected paintings from the works that he has created over the years, marking his spectacular "return" at the age of 75.
