- Real name is Nguyen Van Duyen
- Born in 1915 in Bac Ninh.
- From 1935 - 1938: studied at Indochina College of Fine Arts.
- In 1938: dropped out of school to open a studio at 36 Pho Moi Street - Hanoi.
- In 1939: went to Saigon to illustrate newspapers, draw advertisements and create paintings.
- Since 1942: researched and created a new way of painting called "Handwriting" and continued to paint in Saigon.
- In 1952: taught drawing at Gia Dinh Fine Arts School, continuing to create prints and silk paintings.
- He passed away in 2012.
- He won many awards from the Southern Literature Association, the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, and the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations.
- His works are preserved in the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Museum, the Fine Arts Museums of many countries around the world and in many personal collections at home and abroad.
